GIS

GIS (geospatial information science) is one of those hidden gems that helps make the complicated, clear. It shows us the spatial relationships in our every day, nuanced lives which help some make critical decisions, contribute scientific research, or assist in disaster relief.

At its core, using GIS takes the massive amount of data all around us–from cell phones to satellites–and makes it accessible to us. Having something as simple as the visual tool of a map can help our minds make sense of incredibly complex information.
